Rediscover charm of local cultural heritages

Jun 13, 2017

People view an exhibition of hand-made kites on Shihua Street in Jinshan.

Jinshan launched an intangible cultural heritage experience program on June 10, China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. People can open an official WeChat account to see various traditional skills.

The district has about 20 sites of intangible cultural heritages, including peasant painting, lantern making, and fabric weaving. Each site has a showroom and offers lessons for interested visitors.

A woman surnamed Wang said she was fascinated by straw-made objects and had attended a straw-weaving class for three months.

Jinshan also tries to promote and commercialize its intangible cultural heritages through tourism, particularly in old towns of Shanyang, Caojing and Langxia.
