A 200-year-old boat shelter was found in Zhujing Town, Jinshan District, in February. Workers are restoring the building which was used to dock the boat and protect it from elements.

The shelter used to have eight columns but one was damaged. "The whole structure was well preserved. We can see the original steps and support nails," said Wang Bin, head of the Jinshan District Heritage Protection Department.

Archaeologists uncovered about a hundred artifacts at the site, including a copper spoon, a few engraved seals, some porcelain wares, and roof tiles.

The boat shelter will be protected as a cultural heritage for research and tourism, Wang said.
