Jinshan acquires more invention patents as it strives for innovative development

Jinshan applied for altogether 6,718 patents in 2017, up 27 percent from the previous year, according to the latest statistics from Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration.

Of the total, 3,631 applied patents had been authorized and 449 new patents were in the field of invention, up 37 percent and 28 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The invention patent applications accounted for 32 percent of the total.

By the end of last year, there were an average of 26.5 invention patents among every 10,000 people in the district, an increase of 38 percent over the prior year.

The figures show the district's progress in steering towards innovative development.

Jinshan is also trying to optimize the patent application and authorization structure and quality as well as promoting enterprises as the key player in innovation.
