Jinshan hosts its 1st international kite flying invitational tournament

More than 200 kite flyers from 12 countries and regions joined the 2018 Jinshan International Kite Flying Invitational Tournament & National Stunt Kite Championships at City Beach on Saturday.

It's the first time for Jinshan District to host international kite flying championship. The players came from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, China and eight other countries and regions.

"I'm so happy to be here and share with you my kite," said Steve De Rooy from Canada.

Li Deming, an intangible cultural heritage successor in Jinshan, flied twin kites with each as long as 100 meters with dragon-shaped head and chilopod-shaped body.

Li also guided his students to make dragon-shaped kites with the combination of famous peasant painting of Jinshan and joins activities and competitions to demonstrate their stunt performances.

Jinshan has set up its intangible cultural heritage base in Shihua Neighborhood, promoting the traditional skills of making kites.
