The Jinshan Railway from South Shanghai Railway Station in Xuhui District to Jinshanwei Station in Jinshan District will be extended to Pinghu county-level city of neighboring Zhejiang Province.

Currently Jinshan authorities are doing research on the proposed metro line in order to make clear the directions and stations on the extension. And Zhejiang authorities have submitted the Jinshan Railway extension line proposal to the National Development and Reform Commission.

Meanwhile, a new metro line connecting three towns in the north of Jinshan District is also under consideration.

The line is temporarily named as the Nanfeng Line, connecting Fengjing, Fengxian and Lingang area in the south of Shanghai.

With the line, commuters can transfer to the upcoming Jiamin Metro Line and the existing Fengxian Line in order to reach Hongqiao Railway Station, Xinzhuang in Minhang District, East Shanghai Railway Station and Sanlin in the Pudong New Area.

The planning for the Nanfeng Line is expected to be completed by 2020 and the construction of the project is likely to start by 2025
