Ding Cong Art Gallery inaugurated

The Ding Cong Art Gallery opened to the public in scenic Fengjing Old Town on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the passing away of the famous cartoonist.

The Ding Cong Art Gallery at 49 Qingfeng Road of the old town covers a land area of 3,600 square meters, or the size of half of a standard soccer field. The gallery has a construction area of 1,700 square meters, showcasing the life of Ding Cong (1916-2009), his art works, a bookshop and the life of Ding's father and ancestors.

Ding Song (1891-1972), Ding Cong's father, was also a famous cartoonist before the liberation of China in 1949.

At the opening of the Ding Cong Art Gallery, The Chronicle of Ding Cong's Life was released and the winners of the 2nd Ding Cong Cup Cartoon Competition were announced.

The Chronicle of Ding Cong's Life is the first book on Ding's life in China.

More than 150 guests attended the opening ceremony, including Zhao Weixing, Party secretary of Jinshan District; famous painter Dai Dunbang; noted cartoonist Zheng Xinyao; well known writer Li Hui; Dr. John Lent, editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Comic Art and professor of Temple University in the United States; and Ding Xiaoyi, son of Ding Cong.
