Nov 2, 2019

Investment agreements on six projects, with a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan (US$429 million), were signed at a press conference at the Jinshan Industrial Zone on Tuesday.

Jinshan District also announced its three-year action plan for promoting high-quality development of the biomedical industry as it looks to attract nearly 100 biomedicine companies from Shanghai and other parts of China.

The Jinshan Industrial Zone, the Jinshan Second Industrial Zone and the Shanghai Bay Science and Technology Innovation Center are to be constructed into a high-end green biological products base, a high-end raw material medicine manufacturing base and a clinical transformation research and development base, respectively, according to the action plan.

By 2021, the total output of the biomedicine industry in Jinshan will exceed 12 billion yuan, and the suburban district will be a heavyweight hub for innovative medicines and medical instruments by then.

With a planned area of 2.78 square kilometers, the biomedicine industry sector in Jinshan is a cooperative between the Jinshan Industrial Zone and Zhangjiang in the Pudong New Area.
